An Easier Path to Help
At Alluma, we take on the challenge of streamlining access to support and services every day — eliminating barriers to access is in our DNA.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues and many communities grapple with job loss as well as healthcare and food needs, we know that families and individuals in need are suffering the toughest consequences.
In response to the crisis, we are launching our online Quick Screener tool for public use, to help millions of Californians check if they are likely eligible for California’s food and health insurance assistance programs, CalFresh and Medi-Cal.
WHAT IS THE QUICK SCREENER?
The Quick Screener is a fast and easy-to-use online tool that:
- Empowers Californians to check their likely eligibility for CalFresh and Medi-Cal
- Can be done by anyone from any device with internet access, and from anywhere, at any time
- Takes less than 3 minutes
- Unlike other screeners, requires no personal information, is completely anonymous, and does not need any registration or sign-in
This resource can used by people seeking support and by agencies and helpers connecting people to services.
HOW CAN IT BE USED?
Individuals and families interested in checking their potential eligibility for these programs can fill out the brief screener. It takes less than 3 minutes! The results page will connect you directly to the correct application by ZIP code, and show you additional resources that may be useful.
For organizations and agencies, we encourage your teams to use this tool to help the people you are serving check their potential eligibility for these two critical services, and to share with your communities on your website and social media channels. Want a toolkit to help you easily post and share the Quick Screener? Contact us at email@example.com.
What are CalFresh and Medi-Cal?
CalFresh is California’s SNAP program and helps families buy healthy foods.
Medi-Cal is California’s Medicaid program; it provides free or low-cost medical care for children and adults.
These programs are essential for families and individuals who need access to food and heathcare.
Quick Screener features include:
- A policy-robust solution
Leverages our deep knowledge of program requirements and combines it with our human-centered research and understanding of how people actually live.
- Dynamic questioning
Changes the following questions based on previous answers and includes predictive text.
- Guidance on how to apply for services
Provides people with the options to go directly to the application, after the preliminary eligibility results are given. There is no need to search online for the right portals or place to go.
Utilizes an intuitive interface, thoughtfully written and simple questions, and can be completed in as little as three minutes.
By empowering people to conveniently and anonymously check potential eligibility on their own time, Alluma aims to leverage our technology solutions to close the gap and encourage families to apply for the services they need.
The Quick Screener is one of the scalable modules in Alluma’s new platform, One-x-Connection (OxC), our integrated Eligibility and Enrollment platform. OxC is designed with policy expertise and user input, combined with best in class technology, to put people at the center so they can access benefits more simply and those assisting them can work more efficiently to connect folks to what they need.
